Bob was born and raised in Orange County, California. He is a “cradle” Episcopalian being baptized at St. Andrew’s in Fullerton at the age of 2 months. He attended Fullerton Union High School (’73) and graduated with a B.A. degree in Economics/Accounting from Claremont McKenna College (’77) and a MBA from California State University, Fullerton (’84). After college he worked for a large CPA firm and attained his license as a Certified Public Accountant. Most of his work career involved being in financial leadership positions with a large aerospace firm in Southern California.
In 2001 he met his future husband Tim McDonald. After retiring to Cloverdale in 2011, they were married at Good Shepherd in November 2013. Following a call to holy orders by the congregation in 2016 and a period of local formation and study, Bob was ordained as a Deacon on May 25, 2019. In his role as Deacon, Bob looks outward to determine the needs of the community and brings those concerns back to the congregation for discernment as to ways Good Shepherd could possibly help. Bob currently serves as the Dean for the Russian River Deanery and works in the community with Reach For Home and La Familia Sana.
