Jim was born in Berlin Germany to Joseph E. and Ann Alexander, a Military family.  The family moved many times during his childhood including living in Panama for 4 years.  He graduated high school in Bowie, Maryland and attended College Seminary in Dallas, Texas and Graduate Seminary at Theological College in Washington DC. He ran his own company along with two business Partners in Architectural and Interior Design in Washington DC for 10 years.  He moved to San Francisco in 1993, married Mario Dell'Olio, and began an 11-year career in technology at Oracle, Mastech, and Medibuy managing development and consulting teams in HR, Payroll, Manufacturing, and Medical Supplies Procurement.

Mario and Jim left the workforce in 2001 to pursue sailing and lived in the Caribbean.   They moved to New York in 2003 where he began a 19+ year career with WebMD, where he managed the Business Analytics and Data Services team for their Professional HCP portals.  Jim and Mario made a home in Cloverdale in 2022 where Jim continues his role with WebMD.  They became a part of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church where he now serves as the treasurer/secretary.
